POSITIVE IMPACT
Nature
Organic? What does that even mean? While you may associate it with healthy or something your mom likes to buy, 'organic' simply means that we don't use any pesticides, fertilisers or other nasty man-made chemicals to enhance the growth of our maté. It's like steroids and bug-spray, but for plants.
These chemicals are bad for the ecosystems, but also for your health. So, our plants grow naturally within the native forests, where they have been growing for thousands of years.
Also, all fruit juice and cane sugar in Mojo Maté is organic, making our drinks 100% organic certified.
Ever heard about a Monoculture? It's basically a very large plot of land that is only used for growing one type of crop. It's very efficient and easy for farmers. Makes sense, right?
Well... Large monocultures are actually detrimental to our ecosystems. They reduce biodiversity, deplete the soil and are often mass-sprayed with chemicals.
Luckily, we found a partner that grows maté inside a native forest - so not on a monoculture plantation. Where it thrives in its natural habitat, alongside many other plants and animals. Protected trees, such as the Araucaria are part of this environment. It's almost like nature intended it this way (disclaimer: it did).
Since our maté grows in a tropical climate where it rains (a lot), we never have to water our maté plants. Ever. Pretty cool right?
We harvest our maté plants only once every 2 years. This way the plants have more time to regenerate and grow for the next harvest.
This ensures we never deplete our maté lots and leave all plants full of natural energy.
This may get a little technical, but in addition to being organic our maté grows through Regenerative Agriculture. This is a farming technique focused on working together with nature to improve soil-health. By not using large harvesting machines and having other plants and wildlife around, the soil that our maté grows in stays fertile and rich. In turn, our plants have all the nutrients they need to naturally fight pests and produce the highest quality leaves possible.
